A dynamic equilibrium has reached. No war in the foreseeable future.

It is important to distinguish between war fighting and deterrence intentions. Deterrence runs the gamut from deterring terrorists, to deterring Taiwan's separation, to nuclear war.
At next week’s ASEAN summit in the Philippines, 16 countries – among them China, India, Japan and South Korea, reportedly plan to declare progress on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), a trade initiative that will not include the United States. And a US-Japanese pledge to cooperate on infrastructure projects in Asia and Africa during Trump’s visit to Tokyo sounded like a lame echo to China's Belt and Road Initiative, which aims to connect Asia and Europe via infrastructure and communication corridors.

Both the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank rate China as having a larger gross domestic product than the U.S. based on Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), which adjusts for differences in cost of living and inflation in different countries. Yet, China is at least twenty years lagged behind in military capability.
The only global super-power has belittled the United Nations, withdrawn from the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement, jettisoned America’s commitment to the Paris climate accord, tried to renege on the nuclear deal with Iran, questioned America’s core alliances in Europe and Asia, disparaged the World Trade Organization and multi-country trade deals, and sought to shut the door on immigrants.
China has grabbed leadership of the climate-change agenda, embraced the World Trade Organization’s dispute-resolution system and increased China’s voting shares at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Beijing is forging ahead with a trade pact that would include the major Asian economies plus Australia and New Zealand, but not the United States. China is now one of the leading contributors to the United Nations budget and peacekeeping operations. And both public and private sectors are making a determined play to attract the world’s cutting-edge scientists and innovators to China.
It is clear enough that China cannot come close to matching the US in terms of military might in the next ten years on the global platform, yet future dialogues would continue to address some traditional topics, for example, offense-defense balance, tactical weapons, and strategic warning. It is indeed true that the balance between the two countries is no longer slanted in favour of the US. There is more equality between the nations and parity between the two.
Nevertheless, a dynamic equilibrium is seen here in the Global Village.
It is clear enough that China cannot come close to matching the US in terms of military might in the next ten years on the global platform, yet a really hard bone is here!
